Char Dham yatra is a well-known pilgrimage in Uttrakhand, the northern region of India with the gigantic Himalayas delivering a soothing bliss to all the pilgrims. The tour of Chardham heads towards east from west, Yamunotri being the prior location of the tour. Yatra begins from the Yamunotri temple which is devoted to goddess Yamuna and is also the source of the river. Next in the course is Gangotri temple, well known for Goddess Ganga. After visiting Yamunotri and Gangotri, the pilgrimage is head to Kedarnath temple in Kedarnath town in Uttarakhand near the banks of Mandakini river. The temple is renowned for Lord Shiva and according to a mythological fact, Kedarnath is the place from where the mighty Shiva had released the holy Ganges from his vigorous hairs. Next and the final destination in the pilgrimage is Badrinath which is the holy place of Lord Vishnu. The place is mentioned in many holy Hindu Puranas and is considered to be the most prominent destination in the yatra.
